Turning Rain into Lemonade

It seems that the District of Columbia is confusing itself with Washington state! It is cold, rainy and gray outside and I can barely stand it!

This morning I decided that I needed a little "pick me up".

I have been promising myself a pair of Wellies for years now but whenever I'd go to purchase my British rain boots they were always on back order or sold out. Wack!

So today I said "to hell with the Wellies! Asha & Alphie are innovators and not duplicators!!!"

I searched the web for trendy and understated rain boots and found two cute pair made by a Canadian company called Kamik.

I couldn't decide which length I loved best so I ordered both and I'll decide when they arrive at my doorstep. (I hope I don't love them both equally!!!)

Ahhh -- a little retail therapy on a rainy day does a woman good.

Let's disregard the fact that I haven't posted since Jesus was a boy and just keep it moving... THANK YOU!!!

Asha & Alfie are natural girls! I went natural six months ago and I'm constantly on the prowl for products to enhance my curls and maximize my sexy. These are my staples thus far:

Wen by Chaz Dean Fig Cleansing Conditioner

Ok YES I got caught up in the infomercial early one Sunday morning! But this stuff works!!! I order it by the gallon and I use it just about everyday as a leave-in conditioner. Chaz Dean has replaced shampoo with what he calls a cleansing conditioner. This product all natural. No detergents or sulfates. It is a shampoo, conditioner, detangler, leave-in conditioner and volumizer all in one product.

The fig cleansing conditioner works as advertised on my tresses. It hydrates my hair and soothes my scalp.

My biggest complaint is that I can't buy it over the counter... must order it from Chaz Dean's website, QVC, Gunthy-Renker or from Amazon.com... blah!

Kinky Curly Curling Custard

Believe the hype because this stuff is the truth! This styling gel defines and enhances my curls. I love it! Love it! Love it! It's available at Whole Foods and Target.

Aura Glow - Almond Scent

I mix a dime sized portion of this essential oil mix in with the Kinky Curly gel because my hair needs as much moisture as possible!! It gives me extra sheen. Using this product, I've been asked if my hair was still wet... it is that good! This product is sold at Whole Foods... but, if you are a bulk shopper like me, then you can find it by the half-gallon online =).

Miss Jessie's Curly Meringue

Now that my hair has started to grow out, I've started to use Curly Meringue a little bit. I think I like it... but it doesn't stretch our my curls as advertised... but that could be user error. I still like it though. It's Au naturale and it has a nice scent!

Okay -- I'm off to Target to replenish my stash. But I promise not to stay away so long this time.

Weekend Wedding Recap

This weekend was full of tight-lipped celeb weddings!

It seems that Tiny has finally made an honest man of T.I.P! The two exchanged wedding vows on Friday at a Miami courthouse and again on Saturday in front of family and close friends in an intimate ceremony on Miami's exclusive Star's Island. Following the second ceremony, Mr. & Mrs. Harris jetted back to their hometown of Atlanta, Ga where they hosted a reception. Finally, the couple capped off their wedding weekend with a party in Vegas.

In other news, the pregnant Alicia Keys tied the knot with Swizz Beats this weekend in France on an island off the Mediterranean Sea. The couple is expecting their first child together in November. This is the first child for Alicia Keys. Swizz Beatz has 3 children; two sons with his ex-wife Mashonda Tifrere and a daughter born while he was still married to Tifrere. Breast feeding Gone Wrong.....
When Real life clashes with Dunder Mifflin:
Just when you thought it was safe to have and breast feed your OWN baby in a hospital someone proves us wrong. Ripped from an episode of NBC's, “The Office”, a Virginia Woman breast fed the WRONG baby at Virginia Hospital Center. Suzanne Libby reported to The Washington Post about her traumatic ordeal:

"It was the worst moment of my entire life," Libby said, when she realized her son was missing and nurses didn't know where he was. "On top of that, to find that another mother breast-fed him, without my knowledge, without my consent, was horrid. . . . He was exposed to someone else's body fluid."

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't you know your OWN baby? I guess they all look alike a day after they are born but dang, a birth mark, the Daddy's nose, an Uncle's eyes, something has to alert you that the baby hanging on to your left nipple is not yours!!!! Oh well, this serves as notice to all those expectant mothers, check your breasts to ensure you have the correct baby latching on. Damn, I guess this Reality Bites, literally!

Pay Yo Fare!
